Material Stories Is Back From Around The World

It’s Not Easy Being Green?
After six months and twelve countries, Aart van Bezooyen (owner of Material Stories) returns back in Hamburg. Together with Paula Raché (communication designer), Aart has been traveling around the world in search for sustainable solutions in materials and design. You can read more about their discoveries at the It’s Not Easy Being Green website and stay updated about their next steps via Facebook or Twitter.

What does this mean for Material Stories?
Material Stories gathered a lot of information by getting face to face with sustainability experts and by experiencing local crafts and natural materials. We love to inform and inspire you with materials and ideas that can make your designs more sustainable. If you share our interest in sustainable design – then keep in touch via Twitter or subscribe to the Get Inspired newsletter.

Material Vision 09 – Call For Young Professionals

materialvision09_youngprofessionals

This one goes to the young professionals among us. The German Design Council is inviting fresh graduates to present their works at this year’s Material Vision.

Since this is a call for German speaking countries – please don’t mind me forwarding this in “German only”.

Deadline for applications: 30 April 2009

Good luck, and if your project gets selected – let me know!

Best Wishes From Material Stories!

Creative Courses for Young Designers

Photo: “Groningen by Night”

The Minerva Academy of Visual Arts & Design in Groningen invited Aart van Bezooyen to support their team of interior design teachers. From September 2008, Aart will be instructing young interior designers with materials and design courses with a strong focus on sustainability. The first challenge will kick off with a hands-on design project based upon the Cradle to Cradle principle where “waste is food” (keep checking the blog!)

The Minerva academy is part of the Hanze University Groningen, one of the biggest and recognized universities for applied sciences in the Netherlands. The city of Groningen is nationally known as the “Metropolis of the North”. The large amount of students contribute to a lively cultural and creative scene.

Material Stories is back again!

“We just moved!” and I am more than happy to say that www.materialstories.com is back on air, my materials minded friends and colleagues!

After some radio silence – I am now publishing the first post of an upcoming “flow” of materials inspiration. Did I keep you waiting? Yes, I will also give you some more insight in the materials projects that have been keeping me from posting… All together, it’s good to be back again – and you’ll soon know why…

Keeping it short for now, lots to add to this weblog – so thanks for keeping in touch – thanks for any comments!
